Teen charged with preparing to cause harm in Maryborough
A Maryborough teenager has been charged with preparing to cause harm and possessing extremist material. The boy is expected to face the Brisbane Childrens Court today.
A teenager from Maryborough has been charged with several serious offences, including preparing to cause death or grievous bodily harm and possessing violent extremist material.
The teenager has also been charged with possessing a knife in a public place. According to police, the boy planned to threaten people in Maryborough.
Counter-Terrorism detectives conducted a raid at a property in Maryborough late last month, seizing several electronic devices.
The teenager is expected to appear in the Brisbane Childrens Court today.
Police have stated that there is no threat to the public and that investigations are ongoing.
"There is no place in Queensland for hate and violence, and everyone has a right to feel safe without feeling threatened or victimised," Queensland Police Service said in a statement.
