QLD Reporter respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use qldreporter.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
Information you give us: your email address if you subscribe to a newsletter, and any name, email address or message you send through our contact and news-tip forms.
Information collected automatically: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and the site that referred you. This is standard web-server and analytics data.
How we use it
To send you the newsletters you asked for, to respond to your enquiries and news tips, to understand which stories readers are reading so we can commission better coverage, and to keep the site secure and working properly.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We share limited data with the service providers who run the site on our behalf — hosting, email delivery and analytics providers — and only so they can perform those services for us.
We may disclose information where we are required to by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our readers, staff or the public.
Overseas storage
Some of our service providers store data on servers outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the provider handles your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Accessing, correcting or deleting your information
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email privacy@qldreporter.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Every newsletter we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link.

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first at privacy@qldreporter.com so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
