Emergency services were scrambled to the Landsborough Highway, near the remote township of Kynuna, at approximately 7:50 PM following reports that a gunshot had been fired at a passing vehicle.
A Courageous Intervention
In a dramatic turn of events, a passing motorist came across a stationary Toyota Hilux parked directly in the center of the highway before authorities arrived. Spotting a discarded firearm near the vehicle, the alert driver safely secured the weapon and continued down the highway to hand it over to responding police officers.
Upon reaching the scene, police located a 19-year-old man on foot near the highway. He was immediately taken into custody and is currently assisting investigators with their inquiries.
