Toowoomba Community Rallies as Search Intensifies for Missing Mother Jana Armstrong

Toowoomba authorities and the community are intensifying their search efforts for 30-year-old mother, Jana Armstrong, who has been reported missing from Newtown. Concerns are growing for Ms. Armstrong's welfare, with her family describing her disappearance as completely out of character.

Ms. Armstrong was last seen on Tuesday evening at a property on Gordon Avenue in Newtown, a suburb of Toowoomba, approximately 120 kilometres west of Brisbane. She was officially reported missing on Wednesday, prompting an immediate response from local police.

Extensive Search Underway

The search escalated on Wednesday morning when Ms. Armstrong’s white Hyundai Kona was discovered abandoned at the intersection of Jellicoe Street and Gordon Avenue in Newtown around 6:00 AM. This discovery has fueled fears for her safety and spurred a coordinated search operation.

A Queensland Police Service spokesperson confirmed that State Emergency Service (SES) crews have joined police in the comprehensive search across multiple areas of Toowoomba. These efforts include scouring Black Gully Reserve, located just 500 metres from a property where forensic officers were observed conducting investigations on Thursday.

Officers have been meticulously searching Ms. Armstrong’s home in Newtown and other critical locations in an effort to uncover any clues regarding her whereabouts. The multi-agency operation underscores the seriousness with which authorities are treating this missing persons case.

Family's Desperate Plea

Jana's eldest brother, Sam Davison, expressed the family’s profound distress and appealed directly to the public for any information. “We are desperate for any details about Jana’s disappearance,” Mr. Davison said, his voice heavy with emotion. “We urge anyone who knows something to contact police, Crime Stoppers, or reach out to our family directly.”

Mr. Davison painted a picture of a loving and compassionate individual. “Jana has a beautiful heart and always cared deeply for others,” he shared. “We are a very close family; there are four of us siblings, and she was always there for us, especially when we were caring for our parents in their final years.” He added that Jana loved being outdoors and spent significant time with her sister and their families, often holidaying with them and visiting several times a week.

He also highlighted her deep love for his two sons, saying, “She loved them so much; she would come on holidays with us all the time and was over at our place three nights a week.”

Friend Describes 'Angel on Earth'

Amelia Street, a close friend of Ms. Armstrong, shared her anguish, describing Jana as “such a gorgeous soul” and “an angel on earth.” Ms. Street revealed that Ms. Armstrong works as a support worker, further illustrating her caring nature. Through tears, Ms. Street confirmed that her own three daughters have joined the community’s search efforts.

The devastating impact of Ms. Armstrong’s disappearance is keenly felt, especially concerning her four-month-old baby, who is currently being cared for by a family member. “I am absolutely desperate,” Ms. Street conveyed, reflecting the widespread worry among Jana’s loved ones.

Jana Armstrong is described as Caucasian, approximately 165 centimetres tall, with blue eyes and brown hair. Police and her family remain gravely concerned for her welfare, reiterating that her sudden absence is highly uncharacteristic.

Anyone with information regarding Jana Armstrong’s whereabouts is strongly urged to contact Crime Stoppers immediately on 1800 333 000. Every piece of information, no matter how small, could be crucial in bringing Jana home.
