GLENEAGLE – A cloud of sorrow has descended upon the Scenic Rim community following the tragic death of a six-year-old Beaudesert boy. The young child succumbed to life-threatening injuries today, four days after being involved in a serious two-vehicle crash at Gleneagle.

Emergency services were initially called to the scene at the intersection of Gould Hill Road and the bustling Mount Lindesay Highway just after 2:00 PM on Monday. Investigations into the incident indicate that a Subaru Impreza and a Nissan Qashqai collided at approximately 2:14 PM, leading to the devastating outcome.

The six-year-old, who was a passenger in the Nissan Qashqai, sustained critical injuries during the impact. Paramedics worked diligently at the crash site before he was airlifted to a major hospital in Brisbane in a critical condition. Despite the tireless efforts of medical professionals over several days, he tragically passed away this afternoon.

Two other occupants of the Nissan were also injured in the collision. A 56-year-old Gleneagle woman, who was driving, and a 13-year-old girl, also a passenger, both sustained non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported to hospital for treatment and observation. The driver of the Subaru, a 52-year-old Beaudesert man, reportedly did not sustain any physical injuries in the crash.

Ongoing Investigation and Public Appeal

The Forensic Crash Unit has launched a comprehensive investigation into the precise circumstances surrounding this fatal incident. Detectives are working diligently to piece together the events that led to the collision, examining all available evidence from the scene.

Authorities are urging any witnesses who may have been in the vicinity of Gould Hill Road and the Mount Lindesay Highway around the time of the crash to come forward. Additionally, anyone with relevant dashcam footage that could assist with the ongoing inquiry is encouraged to contact police. Information from the public can be crucial in understanding the sequence of events and helping investigators.

The tragic loss of such a young life has deeply affected the local community, with many expressing their profound sadness and offering condolences to the grieving family.
