Brisbane police officer stabbed in neck during alleged disturbance in city's east police union

A male police officer has been injured in an alleged stabbing incident in Brisbane's east, according to the police union.

Police said officers were called to a reported disturbance at a property on Bogong Street in Hemmant just after 5am on Sunday morning. Officers spoke with two men at the property before the male constable was injured.

The officer was taken to hospital and was in a stable condition.

Officer's bravery praised

QPU president Shane Prior said the officer had been stabbed in the neck and upper torso area.
