Man Charged with Murder After Fatal Stabbing in Townsville
A 47-year-old man has been charged with murder after a fatal stabbing in Townsville on Friday. The suspect, known to the 53-year-old victim, is expected to face court this morning.
A 47-year-old man has been charged with murder following a fatal incident in Townsville on Friday.
Police responded to a report of a disturbance at a unit complex on Narangi Street in the central suburb of Heatley at about 3pm, where they found a 53-year-old man with stab wounds to his leg.
"First aid was immediately provided by responding officers, however the man died at the scene a short time later," a Queensland Police spokesperson said.
The suspect, who is known to the deceased, was taken into custody at the scene and subsequently charged with murder as a domestic violence offence overnight.
The accused man is expected to appear before Townsville Magistrates Court this morning.
The crime scene remains active.
